Working with Indigenous Communities: Companion Resource Guide

About this Recommended Resources Guides

Inspired by the Concordia workshop Working with Indigenous Peoples held as part of the Pîkiskwêtân Indigenous Learning Series, this collaboratively-created bilingual guide aims to reach beyond the university setting and recommend resources to assist those interested in successfully and genuinely engaging with Indigenous communities, collectives and organizations.

Collaborating partners: Mikana, an Indigenous non-profit organization whose mission is to work for social change by educating different audiences on the realities and perspectives of Indigenous peoples, Montreal Indigenous Community NETWORK, a non-profit organization committed to improving the quality of life of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis communities living in the greater Montreal area, Concordia University's Office of Community Engagement, a unit that develops and supports meaningful and mutually-beneficial relationships between the university and the diverse communities of Montreal, and Concordia Library

Concordia University Territorial Acknowledgement

We would like to acknowledge that Concordia University is located on unceded Indigenous lands. The Kanien’kehá:ka Nation is recognized as the custodians of the lands and waters on which we gather today. Tiohtià:ke/Montréal is historically known as a gathering place for many First Nations. Today, it is home to a diverse population of Indigenous and other peoples. We respect the continued connections with the past, present and future in our ongoing relationships with Indigenous and other peoples within the Montreal community.
